Congress Bags Majority of Seats in Karnataka Council Polls

     The ruling Congress won 13 of the 25 Karnataka legislative council seats for which elections were held, leaving opposition BJP and JD-S behind with six and four seats, an election commission official said on Wednesday.

US to Host Summit with ASEAN in February in California

     US President Barack Obama will hold talks with leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in California on February 15-16, the White House said on Wednesday.

The summit, which will take place at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, California, is the first hosted by the US with the ASEAN leaders.

NDRF’s 12th Battalion to be Operational From January 15

GST Implementation Cost Gujarat Government Rs 10,800 Crore Per Annum

    Incremental compensation has been demanded by the Gujarat government from the Centre in proportion to the revenue loss which the state treasure is likely to bear when the goods & service tax (GST) regime comes into power.

    At least 60 people were killed when the Nigerian army raided a minority Shi’ite sect and arrested its leader in the northern city of Zaria, the director of a local hospital said on Monday.

Three refugees expected to qualify for 2016 Olympics

     Three refugee athletes who have fled their homes are expected to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced.

Saina, Srikanth lose in Dubai World Super Series Finals

     Dubai : Top Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth suffered straight-game defeats in their opening women’s and men’s singles matches respectively at the BWF World Super Series Finals here on Wednesday.

World No.2 Saina went down to Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 14-21, 6-21 in just 35 minutes in the Group A match at the Hamdan Sports Complex. Oil prices fall despite declining inventories

     New York : Oil prices shed earlier session gains on Wednesday as traders disregarded the falling crude stockpiles.

US crude supplies of last week lost 3.6 million barrels to 485.9 million barrels, 105.1 million barrels more than one year before, according to the weekly report of the Energy Information Agency Wednesday.

Inventories at Cushing, Oklahoma, the delivery point for the US contract, added 0.4 million barrels to 59.4 million barrels.
